Sarah Kannel

Sarah Rose Kannel graduated from undergrad in 2016 from California State University, Long Beach. She double majored and earned two baccalaureate degrees in Women’s, Gender: Sexuality Studies and Anthropology. After graduating she started to start her own small personal and administrative assisting business which she called, Gal Friday. After successfully running the business for five years, she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an attorney. After taking the LSAT and applying to twenty law schools with eighteen offers of admission, she decided to attend the Texas Tech School of Law in 2021.


During law school, Sarah served as the president of the Black Law Student Association her second year and Vice President of the National Lawyer’s Guild. Sarah also was a doctrinal tutor for the first-year students her second and third year. She tutored in the subjects of Civil Procedure and Constitutional law with glowing reviews from her tutees each year. Her third and final year of law school, she was selected to participate as a student attorney in the Caprock Regional Public Defender’s Office Clinical program. During her time serving in the program, she handled a total of 34 cases for 25 clients closing 24 cases with a 68% dismissal rate. Because of this, she was awarded the Caprock Regional Public Defender Clinic, Robert J. and Ann Burbridge Award for demonstrating excellence in the art and science of criminal defense advocacy. 

 

Sarah has also been working at the law office of Hurley, Guinn, Singh, & VonGonten since her first year in law school. She was honored to receive an offer of employment from them upon her graduation. Although Sarah is recently licensed, she dedicated her time in law school to working in criminal defense. She has handled misdemeanors and low-level felonies with favorable results for her clients. Sarah is passionate about criminal defense and treats every client respect, kindness, and humility. Sarah is exactly the kind of person you want by you side fighting for you or your family.
